Project Description

Oct 27th 2012 – Love at the Opera

We will explore three renditions on the timeless tale of Romeo and Juliet as told by three masters in three languages. We begin the tale with Vincenzo Bellini’s rarely heard I Capuleti e i Montecchi in Italian, pick up the darkening story with Charles Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette in French, and turn to Leonard Bernstein’s climatic scenes from West Side Story.

In a performance by sopranos Dana Campbell, Kimberly Jones, and Joelle Lamarre, Tenor Cornelius Johnson, pianist Paul Hamilton with a chamber orchestra conducted by Francesco Milioto.
